MCMILLIN: What a powerful name that is also unique and some-what difficult to pronounce for the elderly. My last name has deep meaning for me and rich history. You see, I am a "McMillin" through and through.
To be a TRUE McMillin you must: be as loyal as they come, have a odd looking ball on the end of your nose (it comes from our czech ancestors), struggle with holding grudges, and have a pretty witty sense of humor. Good and bad...I am a McMillin.
I've been so excited to become a Pulliam for the past 9 months that I almost over looked this small but honestly sad detail: I will no longer be a McMillin...or will I?
Yeah...they (my dear ol' fam) can't get rid of me that easily. I will ALWAYS be a McMillin...it's in my blood and I will pass it onto my kiddos someday, too.(hopefully not the holding grudges part)
Yet, another married woman detail I am mourning is the fact that I've always been MALLORY GAIL MCMILLIN...yes, MGM...studios. I thought I was something great when I visited the real MGM studios for the first time. The next time I go, I won't be MGM anymore...harsh reality for the little girl who took pride in such a silly and small thing.
Other nicknames I will miss once I am a Pulliam: "m&m", "baby mac", and "Mallory Gail Joy McMillin III"
Don't get me wrong, I am VERY excited to be a Pulliam...I mean, have you met or seen that fam? Wow.
BUT...this monumental time in my life only comes once and if I didn't take the time to mourn certain baby details...I know I would regret it later OR break down crying days after the wedding due to not processing these things. So there ya go. (in a Minnesota accent)
11 more days of being a McMillin and I'm gonna live it up!
